Prince Abubakar Audu buried in his home town

The body of APC candidate in the Kogi state Gubernatorial elections, Prince Abubakar Audu, who allegedly died of cardiac arrest, in his home town of Ogbonicha in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi state, has been laid to rest.

Prince Audu, 68, was the first Civilian Governor of the state, and a flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress in the states Gubernatorial elections

Audu, who polled the most votes in Saturday’s election, which was declared inconclusive 24 hours later, died in the early hours of Sunday even before the results of the election had started being announced.

On his part, Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State on Monday confirmed the death of Audu. Wada, who on Monday, made the confirmation in a statewide broadcast to the people of the state, said Audu died on Sunday at his Ogbonicha village

Governor Wada, condoled with the family and people of the state over the demise, describing the late Abubakar Audu as a man of the people who laid solid foundation for the growth and development of Kogi state.

He then declared Monday as public holiday to enable the people, especially the civil servants, to attend the burial and pay their last respect.

Wada also declared a seven-day mourning during which the national flag would fly at half mast and office activities scaled-down.
