Two suspects, Oni Akibu (53) and Danjuma Abubakar (27), have been arrested by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Ogun State over illegal dealing in petroleum product.
Akibu, a native of Abeokuta, Ogun State and Abubakar, who is from Bida, Niger State, were apprehended around Oke Idofa, along Ilara, Imeko, Ogun State with a 33,000-
capacity tanker fully loaded with petrol.
According to the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kareem Olanrewaju, the suspects aroused the suspicion of the officials when the documents they presented did not support their claim that the fuel was loaded at a depot at Apapa, Lagos.
“The driver claimed the fuel was loaded from Capital Oil in Apapa, Lagos, but there was nothing on the document showing this.
"Aside this, the document indicated three different locations. There are several contradictions in the dates and signature.
"All these make the whole transactions look dubious and the genuineness of the source doubtful,” Olanrewaju said.
