former INEC chairman professor Attahiru Jega looses relative

The family of the just retired INEC Chairman, has been thrown into grief after it was disclosed that Abdulkadir Jega, the younger brother to Professor Atahiru Jega, was listed amongst those who lost their life's in the Hajj stampede in Mina, near Mecca.

According to a statement released by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed on Saturday, two Court of Appeal Justices one of which is Abdulkadir Jega, the brother to Professor Atahiru Jega, were among those that died during the stampede that led to the death of over 700 persons at Mina, Saudi Arabia on Thursday.

‎In a condolence message by the Chief Justice of Nigeria to the families of the deceased, the Court of Appeal, the Judiciary and the entire country, gave the names of the deceased Justices as Abdulkadir Jega who is the Presiding Justice of the Abuja Division of the appellate court and Justice Musa Hassan Alkali of the Ilorin Division‎.
